Illustrator/Designer Note
Rangitoto, combines digital photographs and acrylic illustration. Originally my intention was to use just illustration. After making many visits to Rangitoto to photograph moss, plants, trees and the island. I felt that some of best images needed to be used in the book, so I decided to merge the two mediums. I used illustration where the photos were not of a reproduction quality or where I had used photos as reference for illustration. The illustrations were painted 150% larger than the finished book size. After being scanned, they were put together with the photos in Photoshop, before being placed with the text in InDesign.

I would like to thank Maria Gill (author) for her assistance in directing me to find the references that I needed for the book. She also supplied me with some of the bird photographs, and the one of Ditch (DOC Ranger) holding the dead rat.
See Maria's site for more on Rangitoto.
