Draw New Zealand Birds was my first non-fiction book for both children and adults.

This was an opportunity for me to share techniques, using pencil, pencil & gesso, and coloured pencil. Art mediums which I enjoy using. With all my drawings, I layer the colour and tone and make sure there are a range of tonal value, (white, black and greys in between). I pay attention to the focal area, the point of interest in the drawing,

generally this is the eye.
